I was inspired by my niece today to start blogging (seriously). On her Facebook page, she has decided to do “Project 365” and post once a day about something that brings her joy.
As a result, I decided to do the same, except to blog about teaching, learning, and how messy this profession is.
Of course, the school year is somewhere around 193 days. However, I never really stop thinking, reading, or talking about education. This profession has my full attention 365 days of the year.
It’s not that it has only just occurred to me to blog. However, it has been difficult for me to start. I think I always have to have something incredibly profound to say. Perhaps by forcing myself to post every single day, I can get over that. Perhaps something profound, for me, and hopefully some readers, will occur. Or perhaps, it will just help me think.
One of my favourite quotes about writing is Joan Didion’s: I write entirely to find out what I am thinking, what I am looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.
So, here I go.
